Shell on the Border (SOTB) is a hacker’s conference during a two-day period featuring technical talks, a CTF competition, and an epic after party.
During the 1800's in the American Wild West, outlaws, bandits, and fugitives flocked to a border town at the edge of the frontier—a town nicknamed “Hell on the Border.” Outlaws such as Billy the Kid and Whiskey Bill ran rampant making hideous crimes commonplace. Deputy U.S. Marshals from Fort Smith were sent across the border into Indian Territory to find and arrest those individuals who fled justice from the federal courts.
Today, Fort Smith, Arkansas is on the border of another frontier—the digital landscape. As hackers, we have the potential to be both the lawmen and the lawless in this new landscape. We are the digital gunslingers of this old fort town. We are the grey, black, and white hats of this new frontier and Shell on the Border is our proving ground.
Shell on the Border is the brain child of the Fort Smith 2600 Hacker Community. It is our vision to build a culture of hackers, makers, and creators in the River Valley Community.
Teams are made up of 4 players.

Friday 31MAY (> 20 minutes) and lightning talks
Saturday 01JUN is probably just lightning talks (< 20 minutes)
All presentations are free and open to the public. (CTF is still cordoned off)
The dates for the CTF portion are 31MAY-01JUN and there will be no overlapping time between main track talks and the CTF so don't feel like you have to choose one or the other. There are no restrictions on the types of presentation. If it's of interest to the hacker community, it's welcome. You don't have to be an expert. You just have to be willing. You'll also get a 'swag pack'... whatever that means. shirt, stickers, etc. We hope to see you there.
